The available school kitchen shifts can be found below, with days to be discussed with the line manager during interview:

Monday to Friday: 5pm to 7pm.

Saturday and Sundays: 8am to 2pm.

Job Introduction

Repton School is seeking a Kitchen Porter/Wash Up to work as part of the catering team within the School kitchens. Duties will include washing crockery, cutlery and utensils, assisting with kitchen cleanliness and setting and clearing dining areas.

Main Responsibilities

You will be employed as a Kitchen Porter/Washer-up

You will be directly responsible to your Housekeeper

Your duties will include, but not be limited to, the following: -

  • Washing crockery, cooking utensils, cutlery and glassware
  • Assisting in the maintenance of cleanliness in the kitchen
  • Setting and clearing the dining tables, and re-arranging the dining-room furniture as required
  • Cleaning chairs, tables, floors (including polishing), walls, food preparation areas, freezers, refrigerators, storerooms, ovens, exposed pipe-work, shelving, cupboards and kitchen machines (subject to suitable training being given)
  • Using such cleaning materials as are determined for the task in hand (in accordance with current COSHH directions)
  • Being aware of good practice, in keeping with current Food Safety and Hygiene legislation, including the practice of sensible risk assessment to promote safe working procedures
  • All other such duties as the School may reasonably, from time to time, communicate either orally or in writing to you
  • Inform the Housekeeper of any damage or faults you may notice within the House

Under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 it is a criminal offence for a person over 18 (e.g. teacher, matron, sports coach) to have a sexual relationship with a child under 18 where that person is in a position of trust in respect of that child, even if the relationship is consensual.
